That leather reign just won’e let up, will it? It’s one of the hottest celebrity fashion trends of the moment, and leather has shown up again— three times in fact— refusing to give up it’s ‘top trend’ title.
Socialite Olivia Palermo, model Jourdan Dunn, and actress Zoe Kravitz all recently wore leather ‘fits, with each woman creating a look that was uniquely her own, but still as fashionably fresh as that of her peers.
Olivia Palermo might best be known stateside for her stint on MTV’s The City, but since the docu-reality show’s completion, she’s become something of a burgeoning style icon across the pond.
It’s no surprise then that Olivia would step out wearing British high street label, Whistles, since the mother country is where she’s found most of her fame.
At the NYC screening of The Host, Olivia paired her Whistles panelled leather dress ($577.50) with Aquazzura ‘Madison’ black satin, feather accented ankle-strap pumps, and a Fendi clutch.
British model Jourdan Dunn took on the leather trend and gave it a sexy edge that quite frankly, I’m surprised took so long for a celeb to attempt.
Black leather dresses are a thing, right? So you’d think the obvious styling route would be to go vamp or go home. Yet Jourdan’s the first celeb (since the surge of this trend) to do it, creating a timeless look that’s understatedly, but at the same time, unavoidably sexy.
It’s the kind of tasteful ‘Yes, I’m hot’ look, we’ve come to associate with the likes of Angelina Jolie. Several have tried, and many more have failed at giving off the same effortlessly sexy style as Ms. Jolie, but Jourdan successfully rises to the challenge.
She was famous before she was even born, being the daughter of Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz, and that insta-celebrity lifestyle has always given Zoe Kravitz the ability to walk to the beat of her own style drum and take all the fashion risks she’d like, without anyone batting an eye.
Given that level of creative freedom, Zoe has developed a fearless sense of style that she had on full display at the launch party for her Swarovski Crystallized Collection.
Zoe donned a black leather look from her go-to designer friend, Alexander Wang. Her Spring 2013 cutout fishline dress featured clear plastic threads of fishline weaved together, connecting several leather panels to give the illusion of floating fabric.
