The girls of HBO’s hit series Girls have had a bit of a rough go of it as they’ve tried to define their respective red carpet styles.

Actress Zosia Mamet who plays the bubbly and naïve Shoshanna, has a particular sense of fashion that’s a blend of ‘New York hipster’ meets ‘New York socialite’ that’s left her with a spotty hit or miss red carpet record.

As she’s made the rounds to promote the third season of Girls though, it seems as if Zosia has finally hit her red carpet style stride following a string of looks that firmly plant her in the well-dressed category.

At the UK premiere of Girls Season 3, Zosia was the epitome of New York chic in a strapless jumpsuit from the Elisabetta Franchi Fall 2013 collection (€387,00).

The bustier topped jumpsuit features ruffle detailing at the bustline leading to an origami pleated peplum at the waist, before finishing with a pair of tapered cigarette ankle length pants.

It’s a sophisticated piece yet retains enough visual interest that it fits right in with Zosia’s particular style aesthetic.

If you’re lucky enough to reside in Italy (where Elisabetta Franchi is based), Zosia’s jumpsuit can be yours for €387,00 from the Elisabetta Franchi e-commerce site.

For everyone else, the ‘Casilda’ bustier jumpsuit in dusty pink from Missguided is a great style alternate at a decidedly wallet friendly price of $64.

But if it’s the peplum detailing that grabs your attention, try the below options instead:

She might not have walked away from Sunday’s 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards with a win in the Best Supporting Actress category, but 12 Years A Slave actress Lupita Nyong’o won in every other category that mattered.

Best smile. Best hair. Best makeup. And most important…

Best dressed in an orange red off the shoulder caped gown from the Ralph Lauren Spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection.

Once Lupita stepped one foot onto the red carpet, it was over for anyone else.

Her Ralph Lauren ‘Audrey’ Cape Evening Gown ($7000) is essentially minimalist, but it’s the perfect kind of minimal.

By going head-to-toe in a single bold hue, Lupita (and her stylist Micaela Erlanger) created a visually striking ensemble that dares viewers to look away.

And be honest. You can’t.

The orange-red plays beautifully against Lupita’s skin, and she’s wearing just the right amount of makeup to enhance her already beautiful face, and that great style of hers.

Again, she might not have won a Golden Globe, but she won the hearts of fashionistas across the globe with such a flawless red-carpet look.

Italian fashion house Miu Miu has a history of tapping emerging Hollywood talent to front their ad campaigns, see: Hailee Steinfeld’s Fall 2011 campaign.

So their Spring 2014 campaign, which features four of Hollywood’s brightest rising starlets— Elle Fanning, Lupita Nyong’o, Elizabeth Olsen, and Bella Heathcote— is par for the course for the designer label.

She might be the youngest starlet of the group, but Elle Fanning is the actress with the most extensive filmography, and she’s no stranger to fronting major ad campaigns.

Back when Hailee was representing Miu Miu, Elle was the face of the Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 campaign at the tender age of thirteen.

Two years later young Elle makes a grand return to form as a high fashion model landing another blue chip campaign.

If you don’t know this face, or this name, familiarize yourself. Now.

Lupita Nyong’o is the breakout star of this year’s Awards Season due to her heartbreaking portrayal of Patsy in director Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave.

Following her breakthrough performance (12 Years was Lupita’s first feature film.), Lupita has become the belle of the Awards Season ball, hitting it out of the style park one red carpet at a time, with a particularly stunning turn in a Miu Miu Spring 2014 dress.

If you’re a major fashion house presenting a fashion campaign comprised of emerging Hollywood ingenues, then it’s a no-brainer that Lupita Nyong’o makes the cut.

Once upon a time, Elizabeth Olsen was best known for being the youngest sister of power twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. After all she is the ‘Elizabeth’ in the duo’s Elizabeth & James clothing label.

But Elizabeth’s managed to achieve the near impossible, carve her own niche and craft her own star career that’s unrelated to The Brand that is Mary-Kate and Ashley.

Elizabeth Olsen has become a much buzzed about actress, and possibly even a rising Hollywood style star, so her inclusion in this years Miu Miu Spring campaign makes complete sense.

While all the girls in Miu Miu’s Spring campaign might not yet be household names Bella Heathcote is probably the least known.

The young actress hails from Australia where she’s best remembered for her role on Australian soap opera Neighbours.

Since making the move stateside, Bella nabbed a role in director Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows adaptation featuring Michelle Pfeiffer and Johnny Depp.

Bella’s poised to have her breakout moment with her upcoming role in an as yet untitled Marc Lawrence film alongside film greats Hugh Grant and Marisa Tomei, and her part in Miu Miu’s Spring campaign can’t help but get her there quicker.

T his is why we can’t have nice things. Elle Magazine puts out a ‘Women in TV’ issue, with four different covers featuring four different television actresses all wearing great stylish gear, all giving their best face. Sounds promising, right?

Notice something about the four cover images pictured above? Yeah, everyone else on the internet did, too.

While three of Elle’s celebrity cover girls are featured in full color, figure showcasing shots, the lone woman of color in the series, actress Mindy Kaling, is pictured in a closeup, greyscale image.

Someone at Elle thought it was a good idea to play a game of ‘One of These Things Is Not Like the Others’ with their mag cover using three white actresses— Zooey Deschanel, Allison Williams, and Amy Poehler— and one brown one.

Let’s be clear; this isn’t an attempt to imply some form of racism is at play here (that’s an entirely different conversation for another day, on a different, more socially conscious website).

But it is an attempt to illustrate the all around thoughtlessness, insensitivity, ignorance and lack of awareness that often pervades the fashion industry.

There doesn’t appear to be any malicious intent behind Elle’s decision to single out Mindy Kaling and style her cover shot in a way that’s so dissimilar from the other cover subjects in their four part ‘Women in TV’ series.

In fact, it can be strongly argued that Mindy has the most striking cover photo of the group.

It speaks volumes though, that during the long process that involves a magazine issue going from concept to print, no one looked at the above four images and thought, This might not go over so well.

While the world has its attention focused on New York City’s newest mayor Bill de Blasio and the rest of the de Blasio household, it’s daughter Chiara de Blasio who’s poised to become the sartorial star of the family.

At Wednesday’s mayoral inauguration ceremony, Chiara nabbed her fair share of attention wearing a Nanette Lepore ‘Destination’ leather trimmed leopard print coat ($748).

Statement coats are a great way to make a strong fashion statement during the colder months of the year, when practicality becomes equally as important as style.

Kate Upton showed us what kind of impact the right coat can have on an ensemble when she wore an apple red Oscar de la Renta number to a taping of Extra, and we see the same kind of outfit transforming impact with Chiara’s leopard outerwear.

With a Teen Vogue feature under her belt that certifies her impending ‘It Girl’ status, Chiara de Blasio is a definite must add to your style watch radar.

Even celebrities double, and sometimes triple dip into their wardrobes to repeat beloved favorites. Clearly Glee star Naya Rivera counts her Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals ($395) amongst her favorite footwear, as she’s worn the barely there heels on at least three separate occasions.

The first time Naya wore her ‘Nudist’ heels, she paired them with a Donna Karan Fall 2013 sheer sleeved, crushed velvet, midi length dress.

The actress was on hand to support fellow Glee star Jane Lynch as she was honored at The Trevor Project’s ‘TrevorLIVE LA’ event.

Naya followed up her ‘Nudist’ debut with another red carpet outing for the heels at the Switch Boutique Holiday Party.

She donned a Roberto Cavalli belted fox fur jacket ($3544), black leather Alice + Olivia bustier ($596), and a matching black leather pencil skirt from Gucci ($718) taking the ‘all black everything’ look to an über glamorous level.

During a more casual (at least for Naya) day of shopping at Barneys New York, Naya rocked her ‘Nudist’ sandals with black leather leggings, a white lace cropped top, and an oversized wool coat.

Considering the simple lines and classic silhouette of the Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals, it’s to see why they’re a wardrobe favorite for Naya. The heels go with practically anything.

Get your hands on a pair of ‘Nudist’ sandals from Stuart Weitzman for $395, or try this look-a-like pair from ASOS for $76.

The term Supermodel gets thrown around pretty casually these days, but there are few in the fashion industry who can truly lay claim to the title. There’s no doubt about it though, Naomi Campbell is one of the few.

After nearly thirty years in the modeling game, Naomi is still landing covers.

And she isn’t nabbing random mag covers either. She’s reserving her high profile and high industry standing to command features inside the pages of respected fashion publications.

Starting the new year out right, Ms. Campbell covers the January 2014 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore.

Looking like the queen she is, Naomi is as regal as ever wearing a dress from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2014 collection.

Naomi’s Dolce & Gabbana frock features wide bell sleeves, a fit and flare silhouette, and a medallion and floral motif throughout.

Worn on the runway by Chinese model Liu Wen (pictured at right), Naomi switches up the dress’ styling slightly by adding a few bangle bracelets, an oversized statement ring, and a golden crown atop her raven locks.

She is the queen after all.

She’s the fashion queen of Tumblr, so it’s no surprise that Solange Knowles is owning the style scene on Instagram, too. On her @SaintRecords page, Solo frequently offers an insider’s view into her off duty fashion choices.

Solange took to the social networking site and shared the above photo of herself laughing it up while wearing a Clover Canyon flared skirt mini dress ($310).

Los Angeles based Clover Canyon became a celebrity fave in 2013, with the fashion label’s boldly printed neoprene frocks being seen on everyone from June Ambrose to Mandy Moore, to Olivia Wilde.

As per usual, Solange led the fashion pack supporting Clover Canyon long before most of her celebrity cohorts.

Barefoot and pregnant, who? Gwen Stefani ain’t got time for outdated pregnancy fashion rules. Not only does the No Doubt front woman maintain her style game during her pregnancies, but she also continues to rock her fave stiletto heels.

Specifically, Gwen has taken a strong liking to a pair of ‘Nichol’ heeled combat boots ($316) from her own L.A.M.B. fashion label.

Featuring a 4.5″ thin stiletto heel, the ‘Nichol’ booties aren’t an easy wear for a regular woman, let alone one who’s carrying a child and has a new center of balance to deal with.

Gwen’s attacks her shoe game like a pro, though, making walking in high heels while pregnant look as effortless as walking barefoot.

Gwen loves her ‘Nichol’ booties so much, she’s rocked them on no less than four different occasions, and even owns them in multiple colors.

Gwen’s commitment to wearing a shoe she clearly loves multiple times in a row, just proves that it’s okay to double dip into your shoe closet and wear your fave pairs as often as you like.

If you like them, wear them.

To a crowd filled room at the School of Visual Arts Theater in NYC, Beyoncé declared, “I’m proud of myself as a woman.”

And that was never more evident as she boldly walked the black carpet of the release party and screening event for her Beyoncé visual album, wearing a sheer, jewel embellished black mini dress paired with equally embellished black thigh high boots both from the Tom Ford Spring 2014 collection.

New Years is coming up, and while I’m sure most of us aren’t as lucky as Mrs. Carter and able to get our hands on fresh from the runway designer looks, there is style inspiration to be found in her daring, ‘leaves little to the imagination’ look.

It’s like a New Years party uniform that she’s nicely put together for those of you still searching for an ensemble.

Long sleeve mini dress with high neckline? Check.

Thigh high attention grabbing boots? Check. Check.

Now you’ve got a New Years approved outfit courtesy of King Bey, and her increasing celebration of owning her womanhood and expressing that ownership in any way she sees fit. That includes, but isn’t limited to, nearly baring it all in a sheer dress on the red carpet, taking that ‘If you’ve got it, flaunt it,’ adage to an entirely new level.
