Photoshop has proven itself to be both a gift, and a curse to the fashion industry. Sure it makes putting the finishing touches on advertisements, and magazine editorials easier, but it also makes it that much easier for things to get out of hand during the editing phase of campaigns. Case in point, Matthew McConaughey in this new ad for Dolce & Gabbana’s latest fragrance for men, ‘The One Gentleman.’
Premiering today exclusively on People.com, Matthew looks more like a Madame Tussauds wax figure, than himself. Don’t believe it? Courtesy of Huffington Post, check out this side by side comparison of Matthew in the ad, versus Matthew in person at a Dolce & Gabbana event in June:
He clearly looks better in the pic on the right. Use of photoshop in advertising and fashion editorials should be done to enhance a person’s natural look, not to make them unrecognizable.
