You know what it’s like when you find a wardrobe piece that looks amazing, fits amazingly well, and makes you feel amazing, too. If it’s available in more than one color, you want to own every option. Whether it’s a pair of shoes, a great piece of jewelry, or in the case of actress Kate Winslet — a fabulous dress — we’ve all been there.
The Contagion star first wore her Stella McCartney Fall 2011 colorblocked sheath dress back in September to the Venice Film Festival where she was on hand to premiere her HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce.
Dubbed the ‘illusion’ dress, Kate’s Venice version of her Stella dress featured two tones, white across the bust and cream below, and black ‘illusion’ panels down the dress’ sides and around its back.
It earned its ‘illusion’ nickname, because the black panels give the illusion of a slimmer waist. Definitely a nifty trait to have in a dress, so I understand why Kate would want to wear this extremely flattering dress again.
Months following her Venice excursion, Kate wore her Stella McCartney dress again to the Paris premiere of her new movie, Carnage. This time though, she opted for a different, bolder red color. Even in a different hue, the dress still gives Kate a fabulous silhouette.
It’s available in blue at Neiman Marcus for $1,545. If that’s out of your price range, and you prefer the cream color, Celeb Boutique has an almost identical version available for $176. If you’re looking for an even better deal, Dorothy Perkins also has a similar look-a-like dress available in both yellow, and green, for a very reasonable price of $35.
The question though, is when did Kate wear Stella best?
