Estée Lauder will have a new look come spring. The iconic American cosmetics company has just announced Puerto Rican model, Joan Smalls, as the newest face of the brand. Joining longtime spokesmodels Carolyn Murphy, Hilary Rhoda, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Elizabeth Hurley, and models Liu Wen and Constance Jablonski who just signed in April, Joan will appear in advertising campaigns for the brand beginning in May 2011.
About the company’s newest face, Aerin Lauder, senior vice president and creative director for the brand, tells Vogue.com:
“Obviously she’s beautiful, but she’s confident, happy, elegant, well-spoken, and grown-up—and it really comes through in her pictures. When we pick someone to represent the brand, it’s about her personality, too. It’s not just the face. You find yourself not being intimidated by her beauty, but drawn in by her warmth.”
This is a major cosmetics campaign for any model to receive, let alone one who’s as relatively new on the scene as Joan. But like I said back in October, expect big things to come from Miss Joan Smalls.
