Gucci is launching a children’s line, and they’ve tapped Jennifer Lopez, along with her twins Max and Emme, to be the new faces of the collection. Famed photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot shot the Lopez-Anthony trio while they played on the beaches of Malibu, California. The Gucci children’s line doesn’t hit stores until spring 2011, but you can get a sneak peek of what’s to come, on Max and Emme.
The aim of the Gucci-Lopez partnership isn’t just to sell clothes, though. The Italian fashion house has donated $1 million to UNICEF’s ‘Schools for Africa’ initiative, focusing specifically on Mozambique and Malawi, where Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini travelled with UNICEF in November 2009. $250,000 of that donation will be made in Jennifer’s name, and an additional $50,000 donation will be made to The Maribel Foundation, Jennifer’s non-profit organization, whose goal is to improve the health and well-being of women and children, and raise the level of medical care available to them.
Of the partnership, the new American Idol judge had this to say:
“I was particularly inspired when I first met Frida in 2008 at the fundraising event she hosted in New York to benefit UNICEF. When Frida told me about her trip to Malawi and her excitement about launching her new children’s collection, I was inspired by her idea to build upon Gucci’s long term support for UNICEF with a donation in honor of the launch of the collection.” Lopez added, “As a mother, I am proud to be a part of this campaign to benefit UNICEF’s Schools for Africa program.”
Gucci’s advertising campaign featuring Jennifer, Max, and Emme, will make its worldwide debut in November, coinciding with Universal Children’s Day on November 20th.
