Awards season was kind of a bust this year. A lot of pretty on the red-carpet, yes, but there were no standout moments that folks will be discussing for years to come. Although that’s not to say there weren’t a few celebrity fashionistas who made their fiercest attempts at turning heads, chief among them Fan Bingbing, who had not one, not two, but three wardrobe changes on Oscar night.

At the main event, the 2013 Academy Awards, Fan went for classically daring in an always timeless ball gown, from the fresh off the runway Marchesa Fall 2013 collection.

The dress’ bold hue and voluminous silhouette guaranteed its place as a red carpet standout of the night. In a sea of pale gowns, Fan successfully walked to the beat of her own style drum, using color to turn what otherwise would’ve been a standard red carpet look, into something special.

After the show it’s the after-party, right? And first up for Fan was the 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. She once again wore a full skirted ball gown, and once again she turned the silhouette on its head opting for a black and white striped number from the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2013 collection.

Ball gown? Timeless. Black and white? Timeless. Black and white stripes on a strapless ball gown? Only a fashionista with serious style confidence could even begin to make this work, and make it work, Fan does.

Simple makeup, select pieces of jewelry, and a sharp updo complete Fan’s Vanity Fair look.

To close out her Cinderella-like night, Fan attended the 21st Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, and this time she eschewed the ball gowns and full skirts, but still chose a look that was equally as timeless and classically feminine as her earlier frocks.

Fan chose a sherbert hued, capelet accented gown from the Elie Saab Spring 2012 Couture collection. The relaxed fit of the silk chiffon dress was a perfect ‘end of the night’ selection, giving Fan freedom of movement that was otherwise restricted in her previous looks.

Fan Bingbing should be commended for successfully navigating three wardrobe changes in one night. The fact that her quick changes resulted in first rate looks, earns her a fashion round of applause.
