Apparently I missed the memo announcing Ciara as a celebrity brand ambassador for Emilio Pucci. Last I recall, Ciara was the latest muse of Givenchy Creative Director, Riccardo Tisci. The revolving door of fashion is constantly turning though, and while Cici might’ve been a Givenchy girl in 2010, for Grammy 2011 weekend at least, she’s adopted Emilio Pucci.
She started out her Emilio Pucci weekend at The Black Eyed Peas’ 7th Annual Peapod Benefit Concert, looking amazing in a brown floor length gown, that featured side cutouts. It looks like cutouts are on track to be the fashion trend for the spring/summer season. We’ve seen it on Rihanna and Leighton Meester, now Ciara has advanced the trend to the next level. Her look could’ve easily crossed the line into tacky territory, but her hair, makeup, and fabulous body, come together to give Ciara one of her best red carpet moments in a long time.
Cici next showed up in Emilio Pucci at the Clive Davis hosted, 2011 Pre-GRAMMY Gala and Salute To Industry Icons Honoring David Geffen. Not quite as polished as her first go-round with Pucci, Ciara’s intricately detailed mini dress was let down by competing tear drop earrings, and wrong shoe choice. Still, those are minimal detractors, and the overall look makes sense for a R&B star who has a banging body.
Lastly, for the actual 2011 Grammy Awards ceremony, Ciara pulled out all the stops in a blue and white cutout bodice dress, with long flowing skirt. This is a beautiful gown. Model Toni Garrn works it on the runway. But again, I think Ciara dampens the effect of the dress, by pairing it with unflattering accessories. Her black heels are too heavy visually, and I’m not a fan of the uber sleek hair. The soft waves she sported at The Black Eyed Peas event, would’ve been a perfect match with the carefree bohemian vibe of this dress.
