Look what Drew started. Blake Lively’s a ginger, too!

Last summer she kicked the ombre hair trend into high gear, and it looks like for Summer ’11 Drew Barrymore will be remembered as the celeb who really got the red hair trend going. Two weeks after Drew debuted her newly red locks, actress Blake Lively made her own debut as a ginger Tuesday (Apr 26) night, at the Time 100 Gala in New York.

Wearing an aqua chiffon Zuhair Murad couture gown, Blake literally glowed as she was honored as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential people of 2011.

The red hair is a definite change for Blake, whose blonde locks have become a trademark. But that was kind of the point of the dye job. Blake’s new hair color is for her role in the movie Hick, and the Gossip Girl actress says she wanted a new look in order to purposely feel like someone else. Blake tells People Magazine:

“I thought [my character] needed red hair. It helps when you’re playing a role, when I don’t feel like myself. And I don’t really feel like myself with red hair.”

I have to say, after getting over the initial shock of seeing Blake without blonde hair, I came to the conclusion that I like this new look on her. While the color is only temporary, it’s such a gorgeous shade of red, and Blake’s hair is styled beautifully here. What do you think, though? Are you feeling Blake’s new color?

Jannie, Welcome! Glad you’re enjoying the blog.

I really, really love the color of Blake’s hair. It’s such a beautiful shade of red. Do I love the color on Blake? I’m not so sure yet, lol. I need to see more of it, like in candid photos, before I can really tell if it fits or not.
