It’s been long rumored, but Karl Lagerfeld has finally made it official. Blake Lively will star in a Chanel campaign for the fashion house’s upcoming Mademoiselle handbag line. The ads will make their editorial debut beginning in April, and of his selection of fashion’s latest ‘it’ girl to represent his brand, Chanel head designer and creative director, Karl Lagerfeld tells WWD, “She’s a kind of American dream girl I think she will become a great actress. She’s full of life.”
Of course Blake is ecstatic about the newest addition to her resume, having posed for Karl, who’s also a renowned photographer, at Chanel’s historic Rue Cambon headquarters. You would think her role as a Chanel brand ambassador, would be a dream come true for the Gossip Girl actress, but she tells WWD that it’s much more than that. “How did Cinderella feel when she slipped on the glass slipper? How did Snow White feel when she met her Prince Charming? Dream come true is an understatement. I can say that I feel like the happiest, luckiest girl around.”
Blake and her Gossip Girl co-star Leighton Meester, are on a fashion campaign roll. Blake’s got Chanel, and it was announced months ago, that Leighton would be fronting a campaign for Vera Wang. I wonder if their luck will rub off on any of their other castmates.
