Don’t call it mellow yellow. Stars shine in yellow at the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Last year, the ladies were all about matching the carpet to the drapes, taking to the red carpet of the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards wearing red dress after red dress. At this year’s event, yellow was the primary color of choice to reign supreme.

Wearing probably the most debated look of the night, but my personal favorite, actress Julianne Moore wore a gorgeous long-sleeved gown from the Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture collection. Her red hair, a red lip, and Fred Leighton jewels were her only accessories.

New Girl co-star Hannah Simone officially hit the red carpet big leagues, wearing a custom Emilio Pucci silk chiffon asymmetrical gown. She, too, opted for minimal accessories, adding a pair of Lorraine Schwartz leaf earrings to complete her look.

Claire Danes, who took home a win for Best Actress In A Dramatic Series, chose a loose fitting, draped silk gown from the Lanvin Resort 2013 collection. Along with yellow being the gown color choice of the night, minimal accessorizing also seemed to be a thing. Claire’s choice pieces of Lorraine Schwartz jewels, and Barbara Bui heels finished off her look.

On the more chartreuse end of the yellow spectrum, Modern Family actress Julie Bowen wore a look from the Monique Lhuillier Resort 2013 collection. Her strapless gown with mermaid silhouette, also featured strategic draping details. Julie accessorized with a Swarovski ‘Star Collector’ clutch, and Bochic earrings.

Extra co-host Renee Bragh went for a grecian inspired look, wearing a Rachel Gilbert ‘Donatella’ gown ($795). The strapless dress features a bustier top, and a knife pleat skirt. Renee bucked other red carpet trends by choosing to wear statement jewelry, a gold cuff and matching necklace.

Pan-Am actress Kelli Garner donned a Rafael Cennamo Resort 2013 gown, continuing the draped mini trend of the night. Her draped pleated silk chiffon gown featured both an asymmetrical neckline, and a thigh high split. Strappy metallic heels, and a gold clutch completed her look.

Leslie Mann broke up the head-to-toe yellow trend of the night, wearing a two-tone, fresh of the runway Naeem Khan Spring 2013 gown. She also had fun with her accessories, pairing her ivory and marigold frock, with turquoise Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Rounding out the yellow gown wearing trend of the night, was The Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco. Sporting a side-swept messy ponytail to complement the structured details of her Angel Sanchez gown, Kaley also got in on the night’s other red carpet trend, barely there accessories.

Both dresses are not my cup of tea. Both design wise and colour, Ugh, I hate yellow. Brings me back to the 90′s when my older sister was obsessed with the original Yellow Power Ranger. Naturally I had to choose the colour that she despised pink!

The yellow ranger was my favorite, too, so I understand where your sister was coming from, LOL.
