To think it was only two years ago that we declared runway model Joan Smalls an industry face to watch. In the time since, the Puerto Rican beauty has amassed quite the prestigious curriculum vitæ.

With several Vogue covers under her belt, a few blue chip ad campaigns including Chanel and Fendi added to her roster, and a beauty contract with Estée Lauder solidifying her position as a moneymaker, it was only a matter of time before someone made official what we’ve all quietly known for the longest.

Joan and her undeniable talent, work ethic, and charisma, have earned her the number 1 spot on Models.com’s list of Top 50 Models.

Yeah, that’s as kind of a big deal as it seems. As part of her number one status reveal, Joan filmed a short vid with Models.com, talking about the accomplishment, what it means to her, and how it was hard work that got her there.

Watch the vid below to finally get an explanation for Joan’s über aggressive runway stomp (hint: when you see her coming, get out of her way), amongst other things.
