If you still think of Solange Knowles as merely Beyoncé’s little sis, it’s time you expanded your mental horizons. The DJ/singer/actress/mother has been carving out her own little niche in the industry for a while now, quietly becoming an ‘it’ girl to watch.

By marching to the beat of her own style drum, and setting trends instead of following them, Solange and her ecelctic sense of fashion have captured the attention of the good folks at J.Crew’s sister brand, Madewell.

Through the release of a behind the scenes video, the company made the announcement that Solange will be fronting their Fall 2012 ad campaign entitled, “Mix Well. Madwell.”

Madewell’s guide for fall is all about encouraging customers to try their style hands at mixing and matching Madewell merchandise to create unique and fashionably forward outfits.

Enter Solange.

It’s due in great part to her ability to mix prints and patterns to fabulous effect, that the young starlet has become a fashion standout, gaining an ardent fanbase in the process. Her style is the epitome of ‘Mix Well,’ so who better to represent Madewell’s fall fashion edict?

Solange’s Madewell ads will begin to roll out next month, with a September cover of the brand’s Fall 2012 catalog to follow.
