The Olympics are typically all about sports and athletics, but for one moment during the London 2012 Summer Games, it was a celebration of British fashion that took center stage. The Closing Ceremony of the Games of the XXX Olympiad (London 2012′s official title) featured a mini fashion show, the likes of which the industry has never before seen.

While David Bowie’s ‘Fashion’ played in the background, supermodel greats Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss were joined by fellow catwalk queens (and king) Stella Tennant, Lily Cole, Karen Elson, Jourdan Dunn, David Gandy, Lily Donaldson, and Georgia May Jagger. The models were on hand to showcase some of Britain’s most influential fashion designers, walking what will probably be the most viewed runway show of any of their careers.

Their looks were previewed in the September issue of Vogue UK, but here’s a quick, designer and model identifying rundown:

Supermodels Kate and Naomi, of course wore looks from the super design house of Alexander McQueen. Georgia May Jagger, who’s a little fresh to the modeling game, wore a look from Victoria Beckham, who’s a relative newbie to the fashion game.

Stella Tennant wore a custom tailored suit of gold and aluminum chainmail from Christopher Kane. Lily Donaldson was the belle of the ball in a classic Vivienne Westwood corseted creation. Karen Elson oozed sex appeal in a surprisingly sultry dress from traditional British label Burberry. And Lily Cole is sweet and ethereal in a delicately embroidered dress from Erdem.

As the only guy in the model group, David Gandy had to come strong and correct, to even stand a chance at getting the same kind of notice as his cohorts. With the help of a Paul Smith metallic suit, it was mission accomplished. Jourdan Dunn worked every inch of her height on that runway as she towered over the others, wearing a gold and white column dress from Jonathan Saunders. Her height was aided by a golden feathered headdress created by milliner Stephen Jones.
