Being a First Lady isn’t easy, and being a stylish one, is even more difficult. There are all kinds of rules and procedures that dictate what is, and isn’t appropriate for the Commander in Chief’s spouse. First Lady Michelle Obama doesn’t let a little difficulty deter her though, from being the most stylish First Lady this country has seen, since style icon Jacqueline Kennedy.

At Wednesday (Jan 19) night’s White House state dinner, Mrs. O played host to President Hu Jintao of China, and did so in great style, wearing an Alexander McQueen Resort 2011 gown. Her floor length, red with black details, dress appears to be modified from the runway version, but manages to retain its charm.

Red is a great color on Mrs. Obama, and her chic updo is the perfect hairstyle for a dress such as this. By pulling her hair away from her face, the asymmetrical neckline of her Alexander McQueen gown, gets the proper attention it deserves.

You know, I was so captured by her dress, that I didn’t even notice the earrings. They are nice.
