I warned you guys that it was Awards season, and tonight (Jan 14) the 2011 Critic’s Choice Movie Awards went down at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. Going back a few seasons for her red carpet ensemble, actress Eva Mendes wore Valentino Fall 2009 Couture to the event.
This is one of those dresses that requires confidence and attitude to make it work, and Eva has both in spades. She has the right personality to pull this off, plus she’s styled the dress perfectly. With a detail as large as that bow on the dress’ shoulder is, Eva made the right choice in wearing her hair in an updo.
And even though nude heels are becoming quite ubiquitous on the red carpet, in Eva’s case, I don’t think any other heel would’ve worked as well. Her Valentino frock is a highly detailed, couture piece, and the nude shoes allow the dress to have all the attention.
