While Eva Mendes wore Valentino Fall 2009 Couture to the 2011 Critic’s Choice Movie Awards, Elle Fanning wore a dress from the label’s Fall 2010 Couture collection. This wasn’t one of my favorite Valentino collections, but I do believe the dresses are perfect, and age appropriate for a young actress like Elle. What I’m decidedly not a fan of though, are the slicked down, greasy ponytails the models wore to walk the runway.
I know I recently said it’s almost impossible to go wrong with a head-to-toe runway look, but I didn’t necessarily mean the runway hairstyles, too. And if there ever was a case for an actress to skip out on a runway hairstyle, this was it. Elle’s gelled down pony, is an almost exact replica of the model’s hairstyle, and it’s distracting enough to practically ruin Elle’s look.
If she wanted a pony, I think she should have gone with a high one, or better yet, Elle could have stuck with her usual go to hairstyle, of wearing her long locks all down.
