Well, Leighton Meester definitely gets points for not sticking to just one style aesthetic. The Gossip Girl starlet switches up her look more than almost any other Hollywood fashionista out there. One week she’s wearing a highly questionable Marchesa jumpsuit, the next, a beautiful little black dress from Versus, two decidedly different looks that showcase just how varied Leighton’s style is.
On Monday (November 29) Leighton again switched up her look by wearing menswear in the form of a Thom Browne suit to the 2010 Gotham Independent Film Awards. She finished off her outfit with Salvatore Ferragamo heels, and a tie that perfectly matched her suit.
I’m a fan of women wearing menswear; there’s just something really classic about a nicely tailored suit, but I think that’s exactly where Leighton’s look is off for me. I love the concept behind her wearing a suit on the red carpet, but I think her jacket could’ve used a few darts to give it some shape around the waist area.
Beyond that issue though, I think Leighton deserves points simply for continuously taking fashion risks.
