The last of the Harry Potter films will be hitting theaters soon, and the franchise’s stars are making the promotional rounds. Early on Emma Watson, who plays know-it-all witch Hermione Granger, broke out as the fashionista to watch among the females of the cast. Over the years her style has only evolved and matured, and now that her Hogwarts life has come to an end, she’s taken her biggest fashion related risk of all, by cutting her hair in an extremely short pixie style that calls to mind style icons of the past, like Twiggy, Audrey Hepburn, and Mia Farrow.

“I’ve wanted to do it since I was about 16, and when Harry Potter ended in June, I just needed a change,” Watson said. “It was quite symbolic for me. It’s very short; it was buzzed at the back and on the sides. And it’s really liberating that I can walk out without thinking about it.”

Below you’ll find some preview pics of Emma in the mag, courtesy of MarieClaire.com, but be sure to pic up the issue when it hits stands November 16th.
