Nude/cream is the official color ‘it’ color of the season. See Keira Knightley, Rihanna, Lea Michele, Dakota Fanning…you get the idea. It’s officially a celebrity fashion trend, and you can add actress Kerry Washington to the club. The For Colored Girls star made an appearance at the Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards in a nude dress with sequin embellishment from the Ports 1961 Spring 2011 collection.
This color looks great on Kerry, and her Ports 1961 dress is beautiful, but I’m not quite sold on the way she’s styled this look. I understand why she chose to add a belt. With her small frame, and the dress’ shapeless silhouette, it could have easily overwhelmed her slender figure. But that’s where good tailoring comes in. The feature that makes this dress red carpet worthy, is the sequin detailing across the front, and Kerry’s belt slices right into that, interrupting the dress’ beautiful design.
The styling on this look ruined what could have been a red carpet hit for Kerry.

Ok, so I obviously don’t know a damn thing about fashion, because that dress looks like someone took a bedazzler to a potato sack.
