Fashion’s Night Out is currently underway, and some of your favorite celebrity fashionistas are hitting the red carpet. Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester was front row in this figure baring cut out dress from the Versus Fall 2010 ready to wear collection. Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about this look. It’s something that I would’ve expected to see on Leighton’s Gossip Girl costar, Blake Lively. The dress is close to crossing over into dominatrix territory, but Leighton’s flowing locks, and booties, help to soften the look. On the other hand though, if you wear this kind of dress, do you really want to ‘soften’ anything?
I think where this look is going wrong for me, are the shoes. The booties are too heavy visually, and I think Leighton should’ve gone with something open toe, like on the model. All that said, Leighton definitely gets points for taking a fashion risk.
