Chanel Iman is well on her way towards supermodel-dom. She’s one of Victoria’s Secret’s newest angels, IMG’s newest signee, and recently opened a boutique in L.A. along with her mom, called The Red Bag Boutique. Now the rising starlet covers the latest issue of Canadian mag, Flare. In a spread entitled, Supernova, Chanel ‘gives fall’s investment pieces a new spin,’ and also talks about race and the industry, in an exclusive interview with the mag.
“Once upon a time, I was one of the only black girls on the runway…they tried as hard as they could to make me blend in so that I didn’t look black—[like a girl] with a tan,” she says. “I’ve gotten to the point where I’m just myself.”
Sounds like Chanel has a level head on her shoulders, and is headed for great things.

Chanel did say that she couldn’t wait for the Supermodel to return, maybe she will help start mini renaissance. It will never be a full fledged renaissance, with the crop of ‘interesting’ models on the runway today.
