Apparently, dresses with exaggerated hips are the red carpet trend of the moment. First it was singer Estelle, then Jessica Alba, and now it’s actress Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen who’s working this new trend. Cate wore a very fashion forward gold beaded dress with exaggerated hips, to the premiere of her new movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Like Estelle and Jessica Alba before her, I have to give Cate credit for taking a fashion risk. I think this was a risk worth taking though, because I really like Cate’s overall look. I like how everything is monochromatic– the hair, the dress, the shoes– but by playing with texture, everything is still interesting. Do like Cate’s Alexander McQueen dress? Or do you think this dress with exaggerated hips trend should just go away?

its so hard to walk
I soo love this! At first I was a little hmm about the exaggerated hips trend but Cate Blanchett did it right. Kudos to her for stepping outside the box!
Ms Diva, for us brown girls, I guess our nude is brown. Although I personally think that the traditional ‘nude’ color looks great against brown skin.
i like it. but hate the color on her skin. and the undergarnment makes it clash with her skin even more. I would have loved it in a different color. i hate nude. what about the brown girls? where’s our “nude”?
i dont like it :-(
considering that everyone hates looking fat….
the exaggerated hip thing seems like a contradiction to hollywoods most basic principle…
For once I like it, even though I would have gotten rid of the nude undergarment.
