AIDS charity, Keep A Child Alive, is using star power to raise awareness for a special cause. The Good Cents Initiative asks Americans to save their pennies to help save the lives of children. How exactly does the program work? From the Keep A Child Alive website:
“We’re asking companies to add one cent for Keep a Child Alive. Maybe it’s on the receipt for a cup of coffee, or a penny added to the price of a cd- it’s about really small amounts that quickly add up to make a huge difference. It’s designed to have very little cost to companies and a tiny cost to their customers. But it will generate enough money to provide millions of children in Africa and India with lifesaving AIDS medication, support services, and orphan care. Less than a dollar a day keeps a child alive.”
Sounds good to me! Who knew that something so simple would make such a huge difference in the lives of so many. The Good Cents Initiative adverts will begin making the rounds in several American publications featuring celebs such as Alicia Keys, Iman, and Zoe Kravtiz.
