Runway v. Celebway

I really like Beyonce in this Giorgio Armani dress. Finally we get to see her in a look that’s subdued (at least by her standards, lol). The cranberry color of the dress looks great against Beyonce’s skin, and it works well with her more natural hair color. This is one instance where the celeb looks better than the model. On the runway, the model’s coat detracts from the dress. I’m also not feeling the flats with this look.

Diane Kruger in J Mendel

I really have to call this one a draw. Both actress Diane Kruger and model Liya Kebede look beautiful in this dress. It’s just a beautiful gown. It’s elegant and extremely feminine, and flatters both wearers. The only major difference is that Diane’s chosen an updo, while Liya has chosen to wear her long locks down. I don’t think that either woman looks better than the other.

Dita Von Teese in Dior

Dita Von Teese has taken the ’40s pinup look, and made it contemporary. She looks fabulous as usual in this Dior frock, but I’m having trouble deciding who I think looks better. I love the way the dress fits on Dita, and I much prefer her choice of shoe. But I like the detailing on the bodice of Jessica Stam’s version of the dress. I guess in the end I’ll give it to Dita, mainly because her hair and makeup is much better.

Jurnee Smollett in Marchesca

Clearly Jurnee is the winner in this match up, although the model wears the dress well. Jurnee’s come a long way from her Eve’s Bayou days, and I choose her as the winner because she’s a non-model who looks model good in a runway dress, lol. Actually though, she just looks so polished and together in this dress. It’s definitely a red carpet appropriate look.
