Gasp! Rachel Bilson Wears White After Labor Day

by Norell Alesse on December 11, 2007

rachel bilson - white pants

Proving that you can get away with almost anything fashion-wise if you’ve got the confidence to pull it off, Rachel Bilson spent a day of shopping wearing white pants after Labor Day. I never quite understood why one couldn’t wear white after Labor Day. But perhaps that’s because where I’m from, it’s not unusual for the temps to reach 80 degrees in December. Rachel Bilson obviously doesn’t care about the rule either because she looks as cute as ever in her white pants/camel boots combo. Rachel is one of my top celebrity fashion inspirations. She always looks so effortlessly put together, like it takes no thought for her to come up with her fabulous looks. Will you be as bold as Rachel this winter and wear white? Or is that too much of a fashion risk for you?

Living in the Chicago area is definitely different from LA, but there are people who definitely wear white in our windy and bitter cold winters. It tends to be risky here not for fashion reasons but because there is a risk of ruining the white with the slushy snow or other weather hazards!

So true. I think if the weather warrants it, you should be able to wear whatever you want.

I don’t think anyone really follows that don’t wear white after Labor Day rule. It’s so grandma-ish. Plus here in L.A., we’re seasonless, so we wear it year-round, and it works.
