5 Haute Party Dresses Under $50!

by Norell Alesse on December 24, 2007

It may be too late to get that perfect dress for those Christmas celebrations, but you’ve definitely got time to get ready for New Year’s Eve. These five dresses are definitely in keeping with the season, and you’ll be able to wear them beyond the holidays. But at less than $50, if you want to wear it once and then forget it, you’ll be able to do that too! For pricing and store locations, just click the dress pictures.

1. Madame Butterfly

dress

This off the shoulder dress is both youthful and flirty. The butterfly print is small enough that it’s not distracting, and it also adds depth to the dress. Also, the dress’ short length is balanced by its long sleeves, allowing you to simultaneously be conservative and sexy. Pair with strappy black heels, and you’re ready to bring in the new year!

2. Oh Mod!

black-dress-white-belt

Simple and stylish, this black dress paired with a wide white belt gives a ’60s mod vibe. If you really want to keep the look authentic, wear white go-go boots. Not willing to do white in winter (or white boots at anytime, lol)? Then pair with black knee high boots. Normally I’d suggest some type of pump, but it’s a holiday batches, so you’re allowed to do something more daring!

3. Midnight Lady

navy-black-dress

Navy and black is a hot color combination this season, so you’ll definitely be on trend with this dress. This one is on the short short side, so to keep it demure, pair with black tights. A black heel will work wonders to lengthen the leg. With the short hem of the dress, and long line created by the black tights and heels, your legs will go on for days, lol.

4. Meow!

leopard-print-dress

This leopard print dress doesn’t need many accessories, so any extras should be be kept simple. Yeah, you could go with heels, but this dress would work well with a pair of embellished flats. If you really want to add extra bling, add it with the shoes. Because of the visual distance between shoe and dress, they won’t compete against each other.

5. Prim and Proper

tweed-dress

Tweed is a fabric that’s synonymous with sophistication. This grey dress would look perfect with black tights and a mary jane pump. Think something along the lines of those Miu Miu mary janes that Lindsay Lohan loved so much. If you want a different look, though, you can pair the dress and black tights with a black ankle boot.

Kassie, I took a look at your blog, and I love the looks you picked! I feel you on pairing that dress with a shirt. I have the same problems, lol. With the temps dipping low, I think it would look great with a black turtleneck.

I love the blue dress and the very last dress. I would pair the last dress with a black t-shirt though but maybe its just cause i’m more endowed and I feel like I would fall out of that. :)
I posted a post similar to this today. I love how your options are so diverse.
