High waist jeans have been one of those hit or miss trends. We’ve seen them in all forms, from high waist skinny, to high waist wide leg, but the only people who I’ve seen work the look are celebrities. Jennifer Lopez looked great during a recent visit to TRL, and Ciara was one of the first to rock the trend in her Promise video. Jessica Simpson must have caught the fashion bug, and she decided to try the trend for herself. Unfortunately for Jessica, she failed in her quest to successfully wear a controversial trend.
We know the problems with high waist jeans– they tend to look ‘mom’ jeans, and have a tendency to flatten your but. But Jessica’s ensemble has different problems all together. First of all the baggy pockets are a no no. They make the jeans look like a diaper! And secondly, I think there’s something wrong with her choice of shirt. There’s just so much shirt, lol. I think she should have gone with a sleeveless tank, and maybe something in a dark color that would’ve de-emphasized her large chest that the high waist of the jeans call attention to. Clearly if someone with a fab body like Jessica can’t pull this look off, then perhaps all hope is lost for us ‘regular’ girls, lol.

I totally agree! Please, someone, stop this trend! I have a great bod that is a little short waisted. I could not have been happier when skinny, low waist jeans became popular. However, this high waisted thing? I like that the legs are still skinny, but,frankly, I don’t even think J Lo or Ciara look so grat in them. I have loved the skinny jeans at Anchor Blue and I’m going to snatch up three more pairs just in case they stop carrying them. And I don’t care if they are popular or not, I’m going to continue wearing them.
