A while ago, GAP commissioned three up and coming designers to take a generic white button up shirt, and make it their own. Some months later, we now have The GAP Design Editions, featuring collections designed by guest designers, Thakoon, Rodarte, and Doo.Ri, winners of the 2006 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. Apparantly this is GAP’s response to other designer collections found at their competitors stores, like Proenza Schouler for Target, and Stella McCartney for H&M. The collection is vailable for a limited amount of time online, and only at select GAP stores around the country. When I saw this collection, I had to run to the GAP and see what the hype was about for myself. Here’s my opinion, the pieces are expensive, especially for the GAP. The dresses run about $88, and the shirts around $78. That being said, they are good quality. It definitely feels like a well made white button up shirt. In the end I decided to purchase one of the dresses (the one pictured in the middle), but only because I had a left over gift card from Christmas, lol. I definitely don’t have the extra cash. If your local GAP is carrying the collection, it’s definitely worth a look.
