Louis Vuitton, You’ve Got to be Kidding Me!

by Norell Alesse on March 19, 2007

Louis Vuitton’s latest much hyped creation is the Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork Bag. It’s design contains pieces of 15 of Louis Vuitton’s most iconic bags, and it was designed by Marc Jacobs. Only about two dozen of the bags were made, and all two dozen have been sold. But the outrageous part of this story– the bag costs $45, 000! Yes, it costs $45,000, and two dozen of them have been sold. There’s no word on who bought the bags, but I’m sure we’ll be seeing some young starlet carrying one. Perhaps Lindsay or Paris, who are notorious bag whores.

Personally I find the bag to be kind of hideous. It was clearly a statement piece, something to get reporters, and fashion addicts talking. But we all have different fashion tastes, and if you think this bag is divine, and would like to own one, you have a couple of options. Louis Vuitton is coming out with a Patchwork collection of denim patchwork bags priced from $3000-$5000. And if that’s still out of your price range, just do like Anna Van Pragh, a reporter for London’s The Daily Mail, did. “It took me just four hours and ($222) to buy fake versions of the separate bags,” she wrote. “For just ($77), a local seamstress cut them up and sewed them together.”

What do you all think of this bag? Is it a beauty or a beast? And if you ever found yourself to be ridiculously rich, would you pay this much money for a handbag?

i think the bag is gorgey-gorgeous!! however, once i saw the price, it made me re-think of its looks. i dont think people with all the money in the world shouldnt buy this bag, simple because all it IS is different pieces stuck together, and the price is just a jip.

all the louis family basically did was cover their obvious temporary loss of creativity with a knocked up price and called it “the bag of the world.”

hot bag, not that serious. i would tell the TRUPP women to not buy this bag. its an abomination of the retail world. i wish these people would stop trying so hard to snatch our money away.

The handbag is, with no doubts, AMAZING! Yet, i wouldn’t spend that much money on it, i’d rather buy a car!
