Real Women Wear Red

A few days ago I posted about how Friday, February 2nd was the national Go Red for Women Day, bringing awareness to heart disease in women. Well Friday was also the first day of New York’s Fashion Week, and as unlikely as it would seem, the two causes came together with the fifth annual Red Dress Collection fashion show. The show, which was the official launch of Fashion Week, was held in the main tent in Bryant Park. The annual event showcases designer’s red dresses– the symbol for heart disease awareness in women– modeled by familiar celebrity faces. Those celebrities included Kelly Ripa, Angela Bassett, Betsey Johnson, and Helena Christensen.
