Model Petra Nemcova is following in the steps of Tyra Banks with her own tv series. Nemcova will be the star of the Petra Nemcova Project for TLC beginning this summer. The show is being described as “grittier” than series such as America’s Next Top Model. It will follow girls from all around the world as they audition for a contract with a top New York modeling agency. Petra’s role will be to act as a guide for the girls and help them with the world of modeling. Producer Dave Broom insists that the Petra Nemcova Project will be different from all the other modeling competition shows out there.
“With no disrespect, those shows are the make-believe world of modeling. We’re doing the reality,” he said. “This isn’t a gameshow. You’re not going to get the clawing and bitch-slapping you get in the other shows. The drama here is real and not put together.”
I doubt this show will have the success of Top Model, but you never know. I think part of the success of Top Model is the drama that goes on behind the scenes. I think viewers are only marginally entertained by the ‘serious’ aspect of the show.
