First it began with Spain being the first country to ban size zero models on the catwalk, and then Victoria Beckham decided to ban size zero models from modeling her denim line. Now New York Councilwoman Gale Brewer introduced a resolution demanding that the sponsors of Fashion Week ban models with a body mass index lower than 18.5 (A body mass index between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered healthy). Councilwoman Brewer is hoping to eliminate super skinny models who she feels have a bad influence on the health of young girls. I think it’s great that people are starting to realize that one, super skinny models do indeed influence young girls, and second, you don’t have to be incredibly thin to look great in clothes. We’ll see how far this ban on size zero models will go.

I fully agree with this. My best friend was hospitilised becuase she was anorexic and she was so close to death. She was the tallest in my class but yet she was the lightest, thinnest and most fragile. I blame the unhealthy looking skinny models. Her mum was worried sick, and every night would check to see if she was still breathing. This must stop!!!

I can see skinny is on it’s way out. More healthy models are going to replace them… after all, it’s just career, which is not comparable to your life…

I think this is definitely the way to go, because the majority of those girl are NOT naturally thin at all. I doubt more than 1% at 5’8 and taller naturally weight in 105 pound. Enough already – this pin thin business has got to stop.
