Christian Dior…Memiors of a Geisha

Paris’ Haute Couture Week has come and gone, but I have to say, the Christian Dior show was my favorite. With designs by John Galliano, the Dior show was absolutely stunning. By infusing the beauty of traditional Japanese Geisha with haute couture, Galliano was able to design pieces that were dramatic without being campy. And while none of these pieces could actually be worn, that’s what true couture is all about, focusing on the art of clothing without having to actually consider wearability. With Oscar season coming up I’m sure Dior will offer toned down versions of these pieces just in time to be worn on the red carpet. I’ve chosen my favorite pieces to share with you all, but to check out the entire collection, check out New York Mag.

I love looking at Great Couture Gowns. They give me Great Ideas when i draw. The Details that go into the dresses are amazing, as are pictures. The more attention to details the more interesting the picture. I just feel bad for the girl in the white gown (1st on the page) How does she walk in that. “any way she can survive”…
