What’s Happening?…Beyonce Designs Cheerleader Uniforms

by Norell Alesse on January 23, 2007

So it seems as though Beyonce’ and Jay-Z have a partnership both on and off the courts. Beyonce’s Deréon, the junior collection of House of Deréon, has become the official clothing brand of the dancers for the New Jersey Nets, co-owned by Jay-Z. Beyonce and her mother Tina Knowles, the creative voices behind both Deréon and House of Deréon, have designed outfits for the girls to wear both on and off the courts.

According the Nets organization the collaboration has been a success. “It’s thrilling to be paired with such a fashion-forward clothing line such as Deréon,” said Petra Pope, senior director of entertainment and events marketing for Nets basketball, to Fashion Week Daily. Some of the outfits will be available for purchase in stores across the country.

Girl, the pictures I’ve seen of them on the court aren’t too much better. They are wearing sneakers, but with gold sequin hot pants, lol. But what else can you expect from Mama Tina.

No. Just No. Aren’t cheerleaders supposed to be wearing sneakers, not black pumps? This could go very very wrong. I hope the on-the-court outfits are a little better suited for umm…cheering.
