Fashion Week is drawing to an end in Paris, France. But earlier this week Dita Von Teese played the role of the Holy Mother as she walked the runway in Jean-Paul Gaultier’s Virgin Mary inspired show. Gaultier’s spring-summer haute couture collection was inspired by childhood memories of his religious upbringing. “It is simply the image of purity and serenity,” the designer said after the show, according to DrownedMadonna.com. “We were looking for a little corner of paradise.” Burlesque artist and soon-to-be ex Mrs. Marilyn Manson, Dita Von Teese was transformed into a Spanish-style Virgin Mary with a red rose crown and fake tears tumbling down her cheek.
Before she married Marilyn Manson, I had no idea who Dita Von Teese was. But I must say that she has a flawless retro style. She looked great on the runway, but she looked even better as she attended the various shows during Paris’ fashion week. Dita is definitely a style inspiration.
